Stay at The Milky WayFarer
A thoughtfully designed desert home in the heart of Marfa, Texas.
The Milky WayFarer is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath home built to reflect everything we love about Marfa, contrast, creativity, and calm. Inside, you'll find natural light, cozy nooks, and just enough playful design moments to spark joy without trying too hard. The layout is open and intentional, built for both connection and stillness.
Becca, who spent nearly two decades teaching and practicing color theory, led the design with a focus on balance, soft tones meet bold accents, warmth meets restraint. Every room is built around the rhythm of a slow desert day: sunlight in the morning, rest in the afternoon, stargazing at night.
Outside, the backyard is its own afternoon. A four-hole mini golf course, a vintage Mustang spring rider, four beach cruiser bikes, and a sky that's worth staying up for. Whether you're sipping coffee at sunrise or catching the Milky Way after dinner, it's a space built for moments that last.

Why Marfa?
Marfa is small, remote, and somehow full of magic. It’s where minimalist art meets wide-open skies. Where you can visit a world-class gallery in the morning, eat a taco that changes your life in the afternoon, and see a Prada store in the middle of nowhere before sunset. It’s not just a destination, it’s a vibe shift. A place that invites you to slow down, look closer, and maybe even see things a little differently. Whether you're here for Judd, the stars, or the silence, The Milky WayFarer is your launchpad into all of it.

Booking Direct vs. Airbnb, Vrbo & Booking.com
You can book us through several channels — they all lead to the same house. Here's the honest difference, the way we'd tell a friend.
Direct (through this page) — the better deal
- You save at least 15%, the fee the platforms keep
- A fresh bag of Desert Drip waiting on the counter when you arrive
- A direct line to us — text, email, real humans, no platform relay
- More flexibility on the small stuff — early check-in, late check-out, longer stays, when the calendar allows
- Our cancellation policy applies (it's reasonable; ask if you have questions)
Airbnb, Vrbo, or Booking.com — also fine
- Familiar booking flow if that's where you live online
- Platform cancellation and refund protections apply
- Same house, same desert, same Marfa
We're on every platform because we want you to land softly wherever you're already at ease. But if you're already here, this page is the better path — and we'd love to host you on it.

Marfa is a small town, and the people who live next door have been here a long time. We ask guests to keep that in mind, especially after the sun goes down.
A Few Things Guests Ask Us
Is the property really fully fenced?
Yes — top to bottom, front and back. Dogs can be off-leash the entire time. It's one of the things guests with pets tell us they appreciate most. If you're planning the rest of the trip with your dog, here's what we tell friends about Marfa's dog-friendly patios, coffee shops, and the nearest vet.
Can six people actually sleep comfortably?
Two king beds plus a sleeper sofa in the living room. Two adults per king, two littles on the sleeper, is the most common configuration that works well. Six adults is doable but tighter.
Is it walkable to anything?
Yes. The Waterstop and Bordo are both a short walk. For Marfa Burrito, the galleries, and more, the bikes are the easy answer.
Will we actually see the Milky Way?
On clear, moonless nights — yes, from the backyard, without driving anywhere. Marfa sits inside the Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve, one of the largest in the world. New moons in summer and early fall are the most dramatic.
Is the house good as a Big Bend basecamp?
Most guests doing Big Bend day trips drive down to the park (about 90 minutes to Persimmon Gap, longer to the Chisos), spend the day, and come back to a quiet house and a real bed at night. It works well. We'd recommend at least one full day in Marfa proper before or after the park days.
Do you really roast your own coffee?
We do. It's called Desert Drip. A starter bag is in the kitchen when you arrive. If you like it, bags are available to take home.
