About The Milky WayFarer
Marfa is a town that doesn't introduce itself.
It just lets you arrive, settle in, and slowly figure out why you came. We built The Milky WayFarer with that in mind, a place to land softly, stay a while, and stop checking the time.
The house sits on the west side of downtown Marfa, walkable to The Waterstop and Bordo. Hop on one of the house bikes for Marfa Burrito or a slow loop past the galleries. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two king beds, plus a sleeper sofa in the living room for the littles. Sleeps up to six. A bright open kitchen for slow mornings. A living room built more for conversation than for performing one. A porch and a larger patio that both earn their keep around 4 p.m., when the light starts doing what it does here.
Out back and out front, since the whole property is fenced top to bottom, is its own slow afternoon. A four-hole mini golf course, four beach cruiser bikes, a sky that's worth staying up for, and a few good places to sit while the day takes its time. The Milky Way shows up without you having to drive anywhere to find it; Marfa sits inside the Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve, one of the largest in the world. The rest is on the house page.
We welcome dogs. We roast our own coffee. We're serious about it, and also about having fun with it, bags of Desert Drip are available if you want to take a little Marfa home. And we keep a small take-a-book, leave-a-book library because some of the best Marfa stories travel by paperback.
If you're using the house as a basecamp for Big Bend, Chinati, McDonald Observatory, or just an unhurried trip to Marfa, you're in good company.
We'd love to host you.
